Julio Jimenez
Chalk has been Julio Jimenez's favorite medium since he decided to pursue his career in art, at the age of 16, for its easily manipulative nature to easily create realistic imagery. His burning desire to draw portraits in public combined with his practice of his favorite medium was just a stepping stone towards finding his love for street painting. Until he met a friend, long-time street painter, Randall Williams who introduced and encouraged him to participate in the Street Painting Festivals. He quickly began to receive much press attention, awards, and commission requests from local venues.
Julio Jimenez attended the Art Institute of California - Los Angeles (2002-2006) to receive his Bachelor's of Arts in Media Arts and Animation. During the courses, he learned computer programs that assist him with accomplishing his ideal blueprints for his upcoming street paintings.
Julio Jimenez has been Street Painting for a little over 4 years participating in most of the Street Painting Circuit in Southern California along with other commissioned events. His versatility in his portfolio - drawing automobiles, to anatomy, to buildings, to renditions of masterpieces, to 3d anamorphic, to food, to animals, etc. - has made him noticiable to ad agencies and commissioned events. Last year, he was hired by an ad agency to tour around different cities in the US to promote the Hyundai Genesis 2009 and will continue to tour this year.

Julio is the Featured Master Artist that will be transforming a portion of Pennsylvania Ave. into a portrait inspired by the National Eagle Center's American Bald Eagle. Julio's square will be next to the VIP Tent and the National Eagle Center as well. Be sure to stop by to watch him paint, visit the NEC tent to meet their feathered guest, Harriet, and get your picture taken with a real live bald eagle!
